a-5 problems please help - 26-09-2009 , 06:14 PM

I have a tippman a-5 with upgraded power tube.. not sure wht kind but its aluminum... Wicked air sports e-grip... 16" stiffi carbon fiber barrel, expansion chamber, drop forward, and stock... This thing will not keep up.. I turn the trigger up to around 18-20 bps. and it mulches the paint.. the paint is tough made for woodsball/scenario and its kept warm.. after a bust the paint is all in the barrel, bolt, and in the cyclone. the cyclone has the updated bottom plate with the a stamp on bottom but i just dont know what to do...I shoot maybe 40 or 50 balls and the cyclone feed stops workin all together like the bottle is freezing up.. help me throw some ideas to help me fix this problem i wanna shoot fast and not chop paint every 3 or 4 balls

IIRC Cyclones are only really any good up to 15bps, so that's probably your problem right there.

Can I ask why you want to try and shoot over 15 anyway? The overwhelming majority of events are set at this limit or lower (and I still think that the limit should be dropped down to 10.5bps like the tournament scene, makes the game fun again!).

14/15bps is still crazy fast. Anything else and your paint will need to be so hard that you'll never get a break, making you pretty unpopular

All of this :)

And this, if your using CO2, that'd be your problem. As it can and most likely will freeze up your cyclone.

If you have ever removed the bottom plate of the cyclone, for instance to lube the internals or install an alu' rachet, then you make want to check that you havent over-tightened the 4 base plate retaining screws.

If they are overtightened then they will penetrate the floor of the cyclone and you will have 4 spikes lying in wait to tear your paint apart as it passes though the cyclone.

The remedy is to loosen the screws or even take a few mm off their ends so that they dont reach even close to the cyclone floor.

I'd take a look at www.BZpaintball.co.uk for Tippmann parts myself

Ok everyone thanks for your help.. Its not the fact that I WANT to shoot over 15bps... its just a problem of me being a perfectionist and cant stand limits lol I wanna be able to crank it up if I ever get bored or to show off.. or just to hose one of my buddys up.. and as for tippmanns go I think everyone needs to shoot hard paint through these mech guns anyway.. Im just gonna get a qeph and upgraded vortex.. soft paddles and call it a day.. should suffice then
